ryan & renee : wedding

06-19-08

Ryan and Renee were married on Friday, May 30,2008 at the Ft.Worth Community Arts Center. This couple was another ‘real’ client, or people who were not friends of mine. It is a little more nervous when I am hired by people I do not know, but Ryan and Renee are so very nice and after meeting with them once before the wedding, I felt very comfortable and like I already knew them. Renee is a very organized and detailed person and she had everything planned and went above and beyond keeping me up-to-date and letting me know what to expect on her wedding day, this made me feel so much more at ease. These two were a fun couple to shoot and I think that will be clear to see through these pictures. I can’t thank them enough for allowing me to capture their wedding day.

For this wedding I got to set up my light stand and softbox for some of the portraits I did of Renee and her bridesmaids, I think they turned out great, especially for still being new to the whole off camera lighting business. I am having fun incorporating it when I can, I know it is hard to do during a fast-paced wedding but I came early and was prepared. I usually only post around 20 pictures from a wedding but there were so many that I enjoyed that I ended up picking around 29. You are also going to notice that I have a slightly different ‘look’ in these photos. That is because I just bought the second set of the Totally Rad Actions called TRA2: The Revenge. These actions are beyond awesome, if you are a photographer I recommend you think about not only buying the second set but go ahead and buy both of them!. They save me countless hours in photoshop and they just do a great job of making these actions easy to customize and allowing photographers to create their own style. Well enough of me babbling. Enjoy the photos!

jessica : just because

05-08-08

It is not very often that I get to share with my blog readers more about my life, I think I am slowly going to start changing that over time. I fear I will bore people or that many just don’t care, but regardless of what some may think I find it important to share my life so others may see what I find important.

Here is one person who is very important to me and who I love very much, my wife Jessica. She is probably one of the funniest people I know, she cracks me up like nobody else will ever be able to do. We are both introverts and keep our personalities hidden to people we don’t know but once you get us out of our shell we are pretty funny, okay well maybe she is just the funny one I just try really hard.

These pictures were taken while we were out hanging with our friend Leigh in the previous post. I decided to make a little collage of some of the pictures that just crack me up. I think these pictures will give those of you who don’t know my wife a tiny glance into her personality that you may not know exists. She also took very beautiful pictures but I haven’t had time to get to those yet, but I’ll be showing you some of those as well very soon. Enjoy!

loveleigh : just because

05-06-08

I finally got around to buying a Westcott 28×28″ Softbox and wanted to test it out. My wife Jessica and I have a great friend named Leigh and she has been dying to hang out with us before she moves to Massachusetts next month. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to have a fun hang out time of pictures before eating some dinner, so we went out and just shot around the square in Carrollton. Leigh is awesome and very good in front of the camera, some could say she is “loveleigh” (see what I did there?). Jessica was also a model for me while I tested out the softbox but she definitely deserves her own post, because….well….you’ll just have to wait and see. This was my first attempt at using what I learned at the One Light Workshop and I had a good time with the softbox, it is very subtle in my first 4 pictures, I’ll start getting more dramatic once I get the hang of it. The last picture was just a backlit portrait during sunset. Enjoy!

caleb & becca : engagement - take 2

04-02-08

I posted pictures from my first engagement session with Caleb and Becca back in December and I recently did another shoot for them last month. The first time around we shot at the Gaylord during Christmas time and it was decked out with Christmas stuff that we didn’t want in the pictures, so we were a little limited with the type of pictures. So we scheduled another quick session to get more shots of them together and it was warmer! We met in downtown Carrollton in a little square and got the shots we needed, it was a really cute place to shoot. Enjoy the shots. (As promised I have a few additional behind the scene notes in the read more section of the post)
